  • Strong storms left a trail of damage several states long including Aurora, Missouri.  A man was killed at the Aurora Inn Motel Friday night where the twister destroyed most of his room except a framed piece of art on the wall.  Two tornadoes were confirmed, one in Aurora and another in Monett.  Those staying at the motel have been relocated and are getting help from the Red Cross.  Other damage was reported at the Sutherlands store in Aurora.


  • A convicted murderer serving life in prison is on the loose in Oklahoma.  Authorities say 34-year old Patrick Walker escaped from the Payne County Jail Thursday night.  Walker apparently posed as another prisoner whom he closely resembled.  Someone outside the jail posted bond for the inmate walker was impersonating.  Police say he is considered armed and extremely dangerous.


  • One Joplin hosts a neighborhood advocacy workshop to help improve neighborhoods and tackle community issues.  This workshop is one in a series meant to teach citizens how to bring about desired change in their area.  Abandoned housing was one issue raised at the meeting, and organizers brought out the importance of coming together as a community to take on problems they see in their community through teamwork.


  • The Kansas City Chiefs won their first game without star running back Kareem Hunt yesterday.  The chiefs cut Hunt after a video surfaced showing him knocking over and kicking a woman in a hotel earlier this year. Hunt apologized in a TV interview yesterday. The NFL says its investigators want to speak with him and the woman.


  • Former President George H.W. Bush will lie in state in the capitol rotunda in Washington D.C. beginning this evening through Wednesday morning.  A funeral service will then be held at Washington's National Cathedral. Mister Bush died Friday night in his Houston home at the age of 94. The 41st President of the United States will be buried in Texas on the grounds of his presidential library.
