KOAM MORNING NEWS TO KNOW 12-4

HENNEHA SENTENCING

  • The killer of a Joplin woman will spend the rest of his life in prison.  Jurors last month convicted James Henneha of first degree murder for the death of 38-year old Tonya Crawford.  Prosecutors claimed Henneha and the victim had a relationship and that Henneha strangled Crawford in her apartment.  The judge sentenced Henneha to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

PARSONS RADIOS

  • City commissioners in Parsons, Kansas decided yesterday to upgrade the handheld radios, used by the Parsons police and fire departments.  Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks and Fire Chief Jay Hawks requested and say new radios were needed due to wear-and-tear, and the fact that the model they used to use, was discontinued.  They say the new models will be cheaper to repair and easier to use. 

OKLAHOMA MANHUNT

  • A manhunt for a convicted murderer in Oklahoma stretches into day five.  There is now a $5-Thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest of Patrick Walker.  Walker, also known as Notty G, is described as 5-7, about 175 pounds, with a large scar on the left side of his jaw.  He is considered armed and dangerous.

ARKANSAS BUS CRASH

  • One boy was killed and dozens of people were injured in a bus crash in Arkansas on Monday.  The charter bus was carrying a youth football team that was returning home from a game in Dallas.  It veered off an interstate highway then tumbled down an embankment.  The cause of the crash is under investigation.

GEORGE H.W. BUSH

  • President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump visited capitol hill last night to pay their respects to former president George H.W. Bush.  The 41st president is now lying in state in the capitol rotunda.  Mister Bush's body will remain there until his funeral at the national cathedral on Wednesday morning.  The rotunda is open to the public.
