Joplin police release details of a fatal crash involving a pedestrian

On November 30th, 2018 at 6:13 p.m., Joplin Police responded to 43 Highway and Interstate 44 for a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, they found a deceased male on the 43 Highway Bridge over Interstate 44. That man was identified as 68-year-old Marvin Sundholm of South Range, Wisconsin.

After investigating, authorities determined that a 33-year-old Joplin resident was driving a Chevy HHR northbound on 43 Highway over I-44 and hit Sundholm. Police say Sundholm was walking south in the northbound lane at the time of the crash.

Police say the driver has not been charged. Captain Trevor Duncan says impairment was not a factor.
