KOAM MORNING NEWS TO KNOW 11-7

Updated:

MISSOURI SENATE RACE

  • Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley unseated incumbent democratic Senator Claire McCaskill.  Hawley gave his victory speech last night before supporters.  Hawley touted himself as a self-proclaimed champion of President Trump's agenda who said McCaskill had become out-of-touch politically with the state she represents.  McCaskill has been a senator for Missouri since 2007.

KANSAS GOVERNOR RACE

  • Democrat Laura Kelly will be the next Kansas governor, beating Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach.  Kobach called himself a strong ally of President Trump.  In a state that is considered deep red with party registration showing 44 percent of people are registered as Republicans and only 25 percent as Democrats, Kelly made enough converts to get the job done.

OKLAHOMA GOVERNOR RACE

  • Political newcomer, businessman Kevin Stitt wins the election for Oklahoma governor.  Stitt defeated Democrat and former State Attorney General Drew Edmondson in the open race to replace term-limited GOP Governor Mary Fallin.  In his victory speech, Stitt promised changes will come to the state of Oklahoma.
