600 Plus High School Students Tour PSU College of Technology; See STEM Careers in Action

High school students got insight into what could be their future careers Friday at Pittsburg State University. 

 PSU's  College of Technology held an open house welcoming  more than six hundred area high school students.  
College  students showed off diesel maintenance and even how to make a fidget spinner. Visitors toured the building and explore forty demonstrations and displays in twelve technology areas.  And they could ask college students and instructors questions. The focus was on emerging technologies and STEM fields which officials say have lots of job opening. 

The Dean of the College of Technology, Tim Dawsey said, "They'll get a look at that so at least in their minds they start to understand a little bit about what would a career in this area really look like what would I be doing"

PSU'S  John Iley added, "They'll be able to get their questions answered first hand by faculty. It's a very rich rich experience as far as an orientation to careers in technology and opportunities in technology."
 
Students from 56 high schools attended including many from Franklin Technology Center in Joplin. are getting the chance to learn about emerging
