  • JOPLIN STORM DAMAGE

A line of storms that flipped cars in Midwest City Oklahoma did some damage in the four-states yesterday. The owner of this home on Central City Road in Joplin says the storm sent his garage into his yard. It caused some roof damage and also uprooted a large tree. No one was injured.

  • JAIL POLICY VIOLATION

A former Ottawa County Oklahoma jail inmate claims jail policy wasn't followed after he was attacked in jail. On September 19, Donald Herring was involved in a fight in the jail. Herring says it started in the recreation area when two other inmates jumped him and then a third in one of the jail pods. Herring alleges the fight lasted several minutes before jailers stopped it. The sheriff says the fight only lasted 22 seconds.

  • NEW 911 SYSTEM

Cherokee County, Kansas is getting a new 9-11 system. The new system, which is expected to be up and running in about a year, will change how people communicate with dispatchers. It'll allow people to text 9-11, and send pictures to dispatchers. The new system is funded through the nine-one-one tax. 

  • HURRICANE MICHAEL

Hurricane Michael is bearing down on the Florida panhandle. More than 100,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes as the storm approaches the coast. Michael is due to make landfall sometime later today, bringing an expected 8 - 12 foot storm surge with it.

  • HALEY RESIGNS

There was a surprise announcement at the White House yesterday. The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is stepping down, after two years on the job. She quickly became a star cabinet member and staunch defender of the president, playing key roles in sanctioning North Korea and pulling the U.S. out of the Iran Nuclear Deal.

    Deanna Kafka has spent the past 25 years rescuing animals, and, in 2016, she made her passion a non-profit, dedicated to donkeys. "We have so many people that come out here and we hear it all the time saying that 'I had no idea how cool donkeys were,' or they had no idea how affectionate donkeys were," explained Kafka, founder of T&D Donkey Rescue.
