A 39-year-old Joplin man is charged with first degree assault in an incident that left one man hospitalized.
On September 26th, 2018, Joplin Police were called to the 1500 block of South Connor. They were told a man was laying in the roadway bleeding.
Officers arrived and found 33-year-old Michael J. Osborne laying in the road. Authorities say he had serious head injuries and was unconscious. Emergency officials took Osborne to Freeman Hospital and then transferred him to Kansas University Medical Center. He remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
On October 4th, 2018, JPD Officers arrested Jack T. Ballard for allegedly assaulting Osborne. The Jasper County Prosecutor's Office has filed a charge of first degree assault with no bond. Ballard is still in custody.
