Local Ambulance Crews Deploy to East Coast to Help during Hurricane Florence

Joplin, MO -

Five ambulances, three from Newton County Ambulance District and two from METS in Joplin are now in Fort Lee, Virginia. The ten crew members are staging there to help with evacuations or to transport victims of the hurricane. While local chiefs say it won't impact the level of service it can result in overtime for crews.  We talked to both agencies and with a paramedic now in Virginia on how they hope to help. Lisa Olliges has the story on tonight's news.
