SARCOXIE SHOOTING UPDATE

  • An update to the shooting that happened in Sarcoxie, Missouri Sunday night.  According to authorities the man told investigators he was shot when investigating the chicken coop in his backyard.  He says he was shot in the arm by an intruder.  However, on Wednesday Jasper County authorities say the shooting was accidental and self-inflicted.  Authorities are still investigating.

MISSOURI SPECIAL SESSION

  • When Missouri's governor called a special session he had two bills in mind.  Now, both have advanced to the State Senate.  Those two bills deal with stem education and treatment courts.  The governor had previously vetoed both bills because of what he saw as problematic language.  The senate will reconvene today.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA

  • The Oklahoma Board of Education releases its guidelines for medical marijuana.  The board's general counsel says the rules were written after they received questions from parents and districts.  The recommendation document breaks down what the board found during their research.  But districts can write their own specific policy.

JEFF FAGER FIRED

  • Jeff Fager is out as the head of CBS 60 minutes.  CBS News reports the executive producer was fired after sending a threatening text to a CBS reporter working on a story about sexual misconduct allegations against him.          Fager was terminated before the conclusion of an independent investigation and denies the allegations.  CBS News President David Rhodes says Fager had violated company policy.

POPE FRANCIS SUMMIT

  • Pope Francis is summoning the presidents of each bishops conference around the world to the Vatican for an abuse prevention summit in February.  The first of its kind summit will discuss how to prevent clergy sex abuse and protect children.
