Even though we had scattered rain and t-storms over the past few days, that hasn't been taken into account with this week's update to the Drought Monitor. Going from last week's update to this Thursday, the drought has maintained its grip over the area and worsened in some spots. The entire area is at least under a moderate drought while the severe to extreme drought has grown over NE OK, SW MO and from Coffeyville-Parsons-Fort Scott and points east to the state border. With another shot of random pop-up t-storms for Friday and some better rain chances trying to line up next week, let's make the most of those rain chances as they work on through. Hopefully, the incoming rain will put a dent in the drought before our next update by next Thursday.
