JPD: Body Found, Autopsy Scheduled

Authorities say the deceased is believed to be an adult male. They have not discovered the identity of the person. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Frontier Forensics in Kansas City.

Police are still trying to identify the body. They say the level of decomposition will make identification more difficult. No other details have been released.

Joplin Police say a MODOT Mowing Crew discovered a body at the interchange of I-44/49 this morning (July 10th, 2018).

Officers responded and found the body on a hillside on the north side of the I-44 Westbound transition ramp to Southbound I-49.

Police are conducting a death investigation. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is assisting officers.

KOAM/FOX 14 is on the scene. We'll have more details as they become available.
