Golden City, Missouri officials started their day on June 11th just like any other day, but when the hot temperatures became the center of conversation, so did a project that could become summer tradition.
Officials thought it might be nice to create some relief from the heat, especially since the city doesn't have a public pool. The public works director reminisced on his younger years when the city would test fire hydrants and the kids would play in the water. That story turned into an immediate project.
Thanks to the help of Central States, a local machine shop, the City was able to turn a fire hydrant cap into a sprinkler head of sorts. They put it on a fire hydrant on B Street between Vine and church and invited the community out.
Kids and adults came out and enjoyed the fun for nearly an hour that afternoon.
Golden City plans to invite families out again next Monday, June 18th, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. if it's another hot day.
