In early April, the City of Pittsburg closed part of West 5th St. between Pine and Broadway downtown. Officials said they received a call about an unsafe structure at 113 W. 5th St. Building safety officials responded to the complaint and verified that the building had moved since last inspection.
On advice from the City's Economic Development Advisory Committee, the Pittsburg City Commission voted to utilize the city's Revolving Loan Fund to either stabilize or demolish that building, as well as one located at 716 North Broadway.
The City opened up a competitive process allowing businesses to submit their ideas for the future use of the property located at 113 West 5th Street. Two proposals were given to the Downtown Advisory Board to review and provide a formal recommendation to the City Commission.
The final decision will be made by City Commissioners. They will hear presentations from 5th Street Bar and Grill and Rise Redevelopment on Tuesday, July 10th at 5:30 p.m. at the Beard-Shanks Law Enforcement Center.
