Health fair in Northeast Oklahoma

Updated:

The 2013 Healthfest kicked off early this morning in Wyandotte, Oklahoma.  The Bearskin Healthcare and Wellness Center hosted the event.

The gathering offered residents free health screenings and flu shots.  Area businesses also participated in the event by setting up booths in the gymnasium area.

Organizers say it's a way to bring the whole community together.

"Well, it's a great opportunity because number one, a lot of people don't know where we're located because we are so rural.  And number two, we want to be able to provide these resources to our community," says Kelly Walker, an organizer.

A 5-K glow run and one mile fun walk were also held Saturday night.
