TAMKO employs more than 90 vets - adding toward a 100,000 nationwide goal

Updated:

Veterans who have served or are serving may find it difficult to transition from military life to civilian.

This past March TAMKO of Joplin joined an organization called 100,000 Jobs Mission to build relationships between businesses and veterans looking for employment.

"TAMKO is based on a set of core values, honesty, integrity, and compliance being some of those core values," says TAMKO's Director of Human Resources, Shara Gamble.  "We find that employees being in the military share in those same core values."

Rob Keeling is a U.S. Navy vet, has been with TAMKO for years, and says he knows that finding a company that works with the veteran lifestyle is important.

"With all our employess, we try to make sure that we can find a person that fits in our cultrue and can be successful and make sure they feel comfortable at TAMKO, says Keeling.

More than 90 veterans are employmed at TAMKO, adding to the 100,000 goal.

"We are very commited to hiring veterans, we find that they fit well in our culture and we are pleased to see that other companies partnering together to open up other formats for hiring," says Gamble.

After returning to civilian lif , finding a balance between military and work can be rewarding.

"It was very gratifying to find a company where I can fit culturally," says Keeling.  "We found, other veterans found, it's a win-win for TAMKO and the veterans."

As of June, 100,000 Jobs Mission has employed over 77,000 veterans.  For veterans looking to apply visit TAMKO.COM/CAREERS.
