Police say a man is dead after he tried to rob a vacuum cleaner shop in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Just before 9 a.m. this morning authorities were called to Kennedy Sweeper in Coffeyville.  The 911 caller, owner Paul Kennedy, told authorities he shot a man who was trying to rob him at his store.

When police arrived they located 23 year old Terrence Clark's body inside the store.  Clark was unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Coffeyville Police Department says they are uncertain how many shots were fired but did indicate there were two weapons involved.

"We have a few armed robberies here and there but we are not over burdened with them," says Commander Danny Grigg of the Coffeyville Police Department.  "First homicide we have had this year - don't believe we had any last year."

Police say the incident is still under investigation.
