Monday February 20th Afternoon Update

Good afternoon, everyone. Doug and I have been hard at work since this morning learning the ins and outs of our new weather system that we'll be launching VERY soon! We're obviously very excited about what this system can do and I'm sure Doug has filled you in on only a few things that we can do with this system. In the meantime, we need to talk about the latest system moving in. As of 3:50 PM, we have rain pushing through our Missouri counties but we have much stronger storms forming to our west...

This is a surprisingly strong system that's moving in from the west with the precipitation staying liquid for our neck of the woods while our neighbors in Nebraska get to enjoy a little bit of snow mixing in. Our primary concern tonight will be thunderstorms that will be strong with a few potential severe storms. Have a look at the high-resolution RPM below...

After looking at the overall setup across the area, we were not surprised to see storms fire up today. With mostly sunny skies to start the day and strong southerly winds bringing in some ample lift and moisture, we are due for strong and some severe thunderstorms tonight. Doug and I think that this will be primarily a damaging wind and large hail threat with the strongest of these storms. We are NOT expecting any storms to pick up rotation and produce tornadoes. Again, this will be primarily a wind and hail threat tonight. We will clear out come Tuesday morning with a cooler day on tap tomorrow. Keep it tuned to KOAM, FOX 14, my Facebook page and Doug's Facebook page for the latest regarding the storms tonight.

Nick

Here is your latest 7-day forecast.

LONG RANGE FORECAST

Next Weekend:

With the cool air working in and out late in the week, I do think we will warm up through the weekend.  We will see rain chances by Sunday.

February 25th-March 3rd:

We will have the rain chances on Sunday as this next storm system works through.  Right now I think it is very possible to get enough cold air to get some wintry weather by Monday or into Tuesday.  So we need to watch this as we get closer.  Temperatures will warm back up late in the week.  Our next system moves in with rain on Friday and Saturday.

March 4th-10th:

As cooler air works in on the backside of the storm system over the weekend, we could see some wintry weather.  Then mainly dry and cool through the week.  Warmer temperatures by the weekend with rain chances returning.

March 11th-17th:

A stronger system right at the beginning of the week.  This will give us rain or even thunderstorm chances on Sunday and Monday.  Then we will cool down with rain and snow chances on Wednesday and Thursday.  We should dry out and stay fairly cool into the weekend.
