FOX 14 TV Joplin and Pittsburg News Weather Sports |Friday morning Feb 17th

Friday morning Feb 17th

Good Friday morning.  Wow, another week has gone by.  I have been so busy this past week.  We are getting ready for our new weather system that is already in house.  We will start training on this next Monday and all week long.  This system is absolutely amazing.  It is by far the best weather graphics I have ever seen.  On top of that it has the best severe weather tools on the market.  Our station figured after the Joplin tornado and the action we have had over the past several years, lets go get the best of the best.  We have it and I can't wait to play with these toys.  Out weathernet storm tracker or Titan that we have now is about as good as it gets.  You can compete with it, but it is hard to.  However, our new Max storm that we now have will blow any radar out of the water.  We will by far have the best equipment around and will just give you another reason to turn to koam/fox 14 for severe weather coverage.  That was a pretty good commercial wasn't it, lol.

Alright everyone, the weather looks good today.  We will see a lot of clouds but the temperatures look great.  Check out the radar below.

Current Radar:

We have showers to our south, but a lot of this isn't reaching the ground.  I just expect a lot of clouds for us today.  However, I do expect clouds to increase for us today with showers by late evening.  We will see scattered showers tonight.  In fact our northern counties could mix with a few flakes of snow.  Let me show you what I expect by early Saturday morning.

We will see scattered showers through Saturday morning, then they should mainly push south of the region.  However, temperatures will be cooler for the weekend.  Our next system will move in on late Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  It will come out weird little waves, but should give us chances for rain.  I actually wanted to talk about the pattern in this blog and show you exactly where we were at.  Remember my theories are that a pattern sets up in early October in each and every year.  In that pattern we have a recurring cycle and this years recurring cycle is about 49 days.  However, I left my maps at work so I don't have that reference that I wanted to show you.  So I will do that for you with a weekend blog.  I do see a much stronger system that I talked about in the month long forecast at the beginning of the month.  This system should come in late in the month and the models are now picking up on it.  This system will most likely come out in two waves.  The first wave will be next weekend with thunderstorms.  The second wave will be around the 27th with chances for wintry weather.  We will have to really watch this to see how it pans out.

Here is your latest 7-day forecast.

LONG RANGE FORECAST

Next Weekend:

With the cool air working in and out late in the week, I do think we will warm up through the weekend.  We will see rain chances by Sunday.

February 25th-March 3rd:

We will have the rain chances on Sunday as this next storm system works through.  Right now I think it is very possible to get enough cold air to get some wintry weather by Monday or into Tuesday.  So we need to watch this as we get closer.  Temperatures will warm back up late in the week.  Our next system moves in with rain on Friday and Saturday.

March 4th-10th:

As cooler air works in on the backside of the storm system over the weekend, we could see some wintry weather.  Then mainly dry and cool through the week.  Warmer temperatures by the weekend with rain chances returning.

March 11th-17th:

A stronger system right at the beginning of the week.  This will give us rain or even thunderstorm chances on Sunday and Monday.  Then we will cool down with rain and snow chances on Wednesday and Thursday.  We should dry out and stay fairly cool into the weekend.
