A Branson, Missouri organization formed to help rebuild Joplin prepares for its first project.
Homes of Hope (on Facebook) was created by two former Joplin-area residents who now live in Branson. They also have a thrift store on South Main Street in Joplin.
Now, the organization plans on building two homes on Oliver Street.
Volunteers say they have seen an outpouring of support from across Southwest Missouri.
"We've had other fundraiser's in the Branson area that have brought in $5,000, $10,000 - we sell t-shirts, things like that," says Linda Lonchar-Cherry of Homes of Hope. "So we're bringing in increments of money that way. The United Way of Southwest Missouri and Southeast Kansas here just gave us $25,000."
A tribute to the men and women in our community who have loyally served in the Armed Forces.
