Nearly 200 businesses hope to catch the eyes of future customers at the annual Joplin Chamber of Commerce Business Expo.
With a theme of "Remember, Rebuild and Rejoice", some businesses hope to ensure the public knows they survived and relocated. For others it's a chance to share business cards, samples and information.
The Joplin Regional Airport is promoting its new jet service, which begins February 1. Officials say fliers prefer jets which are quicker and quieter. Flight times will be cut by about 15 minutes between Joplin and Dallas.
American Airlines representatives say air service means the potential for economic growth.
"If companies are looking at Joplin to move here to do business, typically the first thing they look at is air service into the city, not only for their own fliers but if they have vendors coming in they also need access to the city, so air service is huge to the economic development of a city," says Paige Teel, Regional Sales for American Airlines/American Eagle.
Nearly 200 businesses and non-profit organizations were represented at the Expo.
