Four state soldiers hit the road, their destination Afghanistan. The 226th Engineering Battalion is heading to Salina, Kansas for more training before their tour overseas.
Before boarding the bus the soldiers say goodbye to family and friends.
The unit received a farewell today from citizens of Pittsburg who lined the streets as the troops' bus drove out of town.
The soldiers had one year to prepare for the trip overseas.
"To get our finances in line and there's a lot of things that need to take place for you being gone and so it gives you time to do that, it might be a long time, maybe even too long, but it gives you plenty of time to get things in line that you need to," says Lieutenant Douglas Vaughn, platoon leader.
The troops next stop is Salina, Kansas for the month of December, but will be home for a 4 day Christmas holiday break.
