    The Kansas Department of Health issues a boil water advisory for Elk City, Kansas. It took effect on July 16th, 2018 and will remain in effect until officials determine there is no bacterial contamination in the water. KDHE officials say the water line lost pressure during maintenance. When lines lose pressure, it could result in a loss of chlorine residuals allowing bacterial contamination.     Parsons Police Department is investigating a case of an unresponsive toddler. According to media release officers were called to 2515 Stevens for a two year old female child who was unresponsive.  Police say the investigation is active and ongoing.  KOAM/FOX14 reached out to Parsons Police Department to answer questions about the child's condition,  they are not answering questions or releasing further details of the investigation at this time.

    U.S. Attorney for Kansas Stephen McAllister says former Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper James Carson was sentenced today for violating an individual's civil rights by using excessive force. According to court documents, on June 25th, 2013, Carson conducted a lawful arrest and then took the arrestee to the Labette County Jail where at least five other law enforcement officials were present.     The Missouri Public Service Commission voted 5-0 today to allow Empire District Electric to move forward with various regulatory measures to add wind energy to its sources of power. In October of 2017, Empire District filed with regulators to expand its wind energy resources. The company wanted an additional 800 megawatts of wind energy by the end of 2020. They also planned to close its coal-fired plant in Asbury. That closure has been delayed. (Read more on the original story here...
