CARL JUNCTION, MO. - Some kindergarten and first grade students in Carl Junction got lessons in counting and helping others on Monday.
The students traditionally celebrate the 100th day of school by bringing 100 of something to school.
This year they were each encouraged to bring 100 pennies for a clinic in Haiti.
The students seemed to have no trouble understanding the meaning of their donation.
"Teamwork - teamwork help other counties," says student Isaac Pence.
"I felt bad cause the ground shaked," says Luke Whitney, another Carl Junction student.
The students also got to see pictures of Haiti at an assembly.
Students were allowed to bring more than a dollar's worth of pennies and the school says they raised around $1,000.
